Carruth Cottage is mere walking distance from the Lake Junaluska Conference Center making it the perfect rental for conference attendees. Walk to the conference facilities ortake the little ones to the Lake Junaluska playground. Take a leisurely stroll along the paved walking path that circles the lake while enjoying the historic buildings and the stunning mountain vistas that surrounds the entire area. The3.8 mile walking trail has several gazebos and benches where you can stop andrest while enjoying your stroll around the lake. If you prefer, you can shorten your walk to 2.3 miles by crossing the foot-bridge above the dam. Whichever way you choose to go, don’t miss walking through the “Rose Walk” which includes more than 200 hybrid tea, grandiflora, and floribunda roses.
Golfers will enjoy a round of golf at the Lake Junaluska 18-hole golfcourse. While playing golf at the 68 par course you can take in the spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. This course is open to the public and families are welcome.
Located within a 10-15 minute drive are the historic Downtown Waynesville, scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Cataloochee Ski Area, Tube World (snowtubing), Wheels Through Time (a historic motorcycle museum, as featured on History Channel's "American Pickers"), Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart, and many great restaurants, local micro-breweries, craft-shops, and boutiques.
Within 30 minutes are Asheville and the Biltmore Estate & Winery, many great restaurants and micro-breweries, Harrah`s Cherokee Casino, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, Bryson City (home of the Great Smoky Mountain Railway and "Polar Express" during the Christmas Holiday), Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and hundreds of antique shops.

Due to its year round easy paved access and central location, Carruth Cottage is an excellent vacation home for those that want to explore the surrounding area. the road is paved all the way to Carruth Cottage including the driveway. We do experience inclement weather in this region, seasonally, that may limit accessibility; all-wheel drive and/or 4-wheel drive may be required durring severe winter weather road conditions.
